This was initiated as a research paper which developed into a design project that had been intended for a busy urban corridor in Barcelona, Spain. The project investigated the qualities along the Carrer de San Pau, a major pedestrian connection between the Rambla de Raval and the west end of the city. This area had undergone multiple urban renewal plans over the past two decades, but still maintains much of its' original character.
The first section of the project looked at the historical, social, and physical context that is embedded within the site. Informal communities, retail, communal spaces, and local artwork were the focus of this research/design project, following an interest in the traditional Catalan construction techniques.
